Cornices, Panels and Carved Details: The Finishing Touches on a Marble Monument

From a distance a monument reads as one white mass. Up close, the character comes from details: cornices, raised panels and inlays. This is how those pieces were prepared for the Yadgar-e-Fatah project.

Why details matter

Flat cladding gives a clean surface. Mouldings and panels give shadow lines, rhythm and scale, so a large structure feels crafted rather than plain.

Shaped pieces made in the workshop

Profiled cornice mouldings and cut panels are made in the stone workshop, where machines and craftsmen can hold tight tolerances. Doing this off-site reduces cutting on the scaffold.

Packing delicate pieces

Shaped pieces are more fragile than flat slabs. They are stacked with spacers, protected on edges and crated so profiles arrive undamaged.

On the wall

On site, details are fixed to the drawings, so panels and mouldings line up with the surrounding cladding.
