“White marble” covers a lot of ground. Four names come up constantly in Pakistan: Thassos, Carrara, Volakas and Drama White. They look similar in a small sample and very different across a whole wall.

Quick comparison
- Thassos White: bright, pure white with very little veining. The most uniform of the four, which suits façades and large clean surfaces.
- Carrara: an Italian marble, typically white to soft grey with feathery grey veins. Often chosen for a classic, softer look.
- Volakas: Greek marble, white with grey, and sometimes golden, veining. More character than Thassos.
- Drama White: Greek marble from the Drama region, white to cream with light veining.
Choosing by use
Façades and monuments
Uniform colour matters most. Thassos White was our choice for the Yadgar-e-Fatah monument for exactly that reason.
Floors and interiors
Veined stones such as Volakas and Drama White hide small marks better and add depth to a room.
Bathrooms and kitchens
Pick the finish with the stone: honed finishes are less slippery than high polish, and sealing helps all marble resist stains.

Always judge the full slab, not the sample
Natural stone varies. Ask to see full slabs, or photographs of the actual lot, before you approve an order.
Frequently asked questions
Is Thassos the whitest marble?
It is widely regarded as one of the whitest and most uniform marbles available.
Which is best for outdoor cladding?
A dense, uniform stone such as Thassos is a common choice. The right answer depends on climate, finish and fixing method, so ask a specialist.
