When a national monument is clad in white marble, every slab has to be right: the colour, the thickness, the finish and the delivery date. This is how Prosvogue sourced Thassos White marble from Greece and installed it at the Yadgar-e-Fatah monument in Islamabad (previously known as the Marka-e-Haq monument) for FWO.

The brief: a monument that has to stay white
The Yadgar-e-Fatah monument, formerly Marka-e-Haq, is a public landmark in Islamabad. A project like this leaves little room for compromise. The stone must look consistent across a very large surface, survive Islamabad’s heat, monsoon rain and winter cold, and arrive in time for installation to run without stoppages.
Prosvogue was appointed to supply and install the marble cladding for FWO. The scope was 40,000 square feet of 3 cm thick marble, sourced from Greece, with Prosvogue handling selection, import logistics, customs and the cladding works on site.
Why Thassos White?
Thassos is one of the best-known marbles in the world for its pure, bright white colour and fine crystalline structure. On a monument, that matters for three reasons:
- Colour consistency. A uniform white reads as one clean surface from a distance, which is what a landmark façade needs.
- Light. Thassos reflects daylight strongly and takes light well in the evening, so details such as mouldings and panels stay readable.
- Durability. It is a dense stone with a long record on exterior and architectural work.

Selection in Greece
Before anything was shipped, the stone was inspected in Greece at the supplier’s yard and processing hall. Slabs were checked on racks for colour, surface and flatness, tagged and labelled so every piece could be traced, then wrapped in protective film and packed into wooden export crates.

Cut-to-size pieces and carved details
A cladding job is not only flat slabs. The façade also called for shaped elements: hexagonal panels with raised borders and profiled cornice mouldings. These were prepared in the workshop and packed alongside the slabs, so that site crews were fitting finished pieces rather than cutting on the scaffold.

From Greece to Islamabad: the timeline
- January. Import begins. First consignments are selected, packed and shipped from Greece.
- January to August. Marble arrives in phases, cleared through customs and moved to site.
- 10 June. Installation starts on the structure while later consignments are still on the way.
- 12 August. Import completed, with the final consignment delivered.
Running import and installation side by side is what kept the project moving. It only works when shipping, clearance and site teams are in step, which is why Prosvogue handles all three itself.
Installation on site
On site, the concrete structure was scaffolded and prepared before cladding began. Installation followed the drawings face by face, working through the arches and the panelled walls.

Why 3 cm marble for cladding?
For large exterior elements, a 3 cm thickness is a common choice because it gives enough strength to handle wind load, thermal movement and handling on site, without the weight of much thicker stone. It is a practical balance for façades, and it is the specification Prosvogue supplied and installed on this project.
What this project shows
- End-to-end delivery. Sourcing, import, customs clearance and installation under one team.
- Quality control at the source. Slabs inspected, tagged and packed before they leave Greece.
- Delivery in phases. Installation began on 10 June, while the final import was still arriving until 12 August.
